PDF to Text

Drop a PDF, get all its text out in seconds. Copy to clipboard or save as a .txt file. Runs entirely in your browser.

Text extraction happens via pdf.js in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is parsed entirely in your browser using pdf.js. No server, no signup, no copy of your file leaves the page.

Will it work on scanned PDFs?

Only if the PDF contains a text layer (most PDFs exported from Word, Google Docs, browsers, or LaTeX do). For pure-image scans, use our Image-to-Text (OCR) tool instead.

What's the difference between this and copying from a PDF viewer?

PDF viewers often glue words together when you select across columns or paragraphs. We use pdf.js's structured text extraction which reads the document's coordinate-ordered text runs and inserts line breaks intelligently.

Can I copy or download the text?

Both. The 'Copy all' button copies to your clipboard; 'Download .txt' saves a UTF-8 text file with the same name as your PDF.
